2021

  • 50th anniversary of Toyota Indonesia, growing and developing with the community in realizing mobility happiness for all.
  • TMMIN supported as many as 80,000 vaccination doses for employees, employees’ families, and the general public until mid-2021.

2020

  • The COVID-19 Response Program saw Toyota Indonesia TMMIN hand over 17 Kijang Innova ambulances as well as 108,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and 40,000 face masks to various agencies, such as the Indonesian Red Cross, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Regional Government of DKI Jakarta.
  • Half a decade of AKTI has produced more than 200 Global Quality graduates and TMMIN celebrated the further graduation of 64 more Toyota Indonesia Academy Community (AKTI) graduates, meaning AKTI has produced a total of 223 BNSP certified D1 and D2 graduates (batch 1 to batch 5).   
  • Additional T-Brand car export destinations during the COVID-19 period saw TMMIN succeed in adding the South American Region to export destination countries. The total exports of T-Brand have reached 142,993 units, indicating a recovery trend at the end of 2020.
  • Won Most Admired Companies 2020 in the Automotive Category.

2019

  • Established an agreement and collaboration with PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium (Inalum) for the use of aluminum foundry alloys in the production of Toyota car wheels.
  • One TIA student, Mochammad Hafid Fauzi, won a bronze medal in the 45th World Skill Competition which took place in Kazan, Russia. 
  • TMMIN celebrated the graduation of 63 graduates of the TIA Automotive Manufacturing Academy where the 4th batch majored in Automation Machine Maintenance Engineering and the 1st batch majored in 4-wheel Vehicle Assembly Operations.

2018

  • Export of T-Brand Vehicles reached 206,600 units, the highest for 6 years.
  • Launch of the Comprehensive Electrified Research Vehicle involving universities.
  • Toyota Indonesia successfully marked the achievement of more than 1 million whole vehicle exports. 
  • Graduation of the 3rd Batch of the Toyota Indonesia Community Academy (TIA).

2017

  • T-Brand vehicle exports achieved 200K, the highest volume for 5 years.

2016

  • Launch of the All-New Toyota Fortuner.
  • Inauguration of the Karawang plant 3 aluminum machinery factory.
  • Start of local Sienta production. 
  • Graduation of TIA (Toyota Indonesian Academy) first batch.

2015

  • Launch of the All New Kijang Innova (the 6th generation) and the beginning of CNG vehicle studies with the government of Indonesia.

2014

  • A new engine plant was established and the Yaris was launched.

2013

  • The Etios Valco was launched and the Innova received a facelift.

2012

  • Additional investment from Toyota and five other Toyota Group companies amounted to Rp13 trillion.

2011

  • TMMIN established its second plant in Karawang.

2008

  • The Prius was introduced to Indonesia.

2007

  • The Kijang and Innova models received facelifts.

2006

  • The Fortuner was produced for the first time.

2004

  • The Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia were launched as a collaboration between Toyota and Daihatsu. In addition, the Toyota Innova was also launched as the fifth generation of the Kijang.

2003

  • Restructuring of TAM into PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) with TAM now acting as distributor.

2000

  • The Toyota Integrated Plant was established in Karawang.

1996

  • TMMIN established the Karawang Factory.
  • TMMIN production reached 1,000,000 units.

1995

In celebration of Indonesia’s 50th year of independence, TAM held a Kijang Lintas Nusantara event under the theme of “Indonesia Gold”. 

1989

  • Four companies, namely PT Toyota-Astra Motor, PT Multi Astra, PT Toyota Mobilindo, and PT Toyota Engine Indonesia merged to form PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM).

1987

  • Toyota’s initial export (third generation of Kijang) to several countries in Asia Pacific.

1982

  • PT Toyota Engine Indonesia was established as the first Toyota engine plant in Indonesia.

1977

  • First generation of Kijang was launched.

1976

  • PT Toyota Mobilindo was established as a plant for vehicle body manufacturing.

1974

  • The Toyota & Astra Foundation was established as a CSR institution engaged in the education sector.

1973

  • PT Multi Astra was established due to increasing Toyota production as well as Toyota’s desire to carry out comprehensive and independent quality checks.

1971

  • Toyota in Indonesia began with the establishment of PT Toyota-Astra Motor which operated as an importer and distributor of Toyota brand vehicles.
